For the safety of everyone involved, including vulnerable individuals within the programs and access to confidential information; all volunteers must undergo a screening process and criminal record check prior to be accepted.
Skill sets for volunteers are diverse and Lisa will work to match your interests and abilities with current needs. Many of the volunteer opportunities offer flexible schedules for when you are able to share your time.

Become a Gustavson House Volunteer Host. Support the MHP Coordinator in hosting drop-in groups. Duties include light meal prep, socializing with the participants, art prep, and more.
Volunteer as a MSW Assistant. Assist our Multi Service Worker with the service delivery in participants’ homes. Light housekeeping or light yardwork. 1-2 hours each time.
Be one of our wonderful CAPC volunteers. Assist with set up, clean up, and engaging with families of children 0-6 in our community based programs. Commitment of 1-6 hours per week.
Help our team of handy volunteers improve the living situation of our community members who are not able to afford a contractor, by fixing things around their home.
Become a Friendly Visitor volunteer. Connect with one or more of our client(s) assigned to you on a regular basis. Phone calls, walks, or go for coffee. Reports monthly to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Be one of our Delivery Drivers. Deliver meals to clients in the Keremeos, Cawston, and Olalla area. 1-2 hours each time, starting at 11am. Commit to a regular monthly, weekly, or bi-weekly schedule.
Become an Activity Assistant volunteer. Assist staff in entertaining residents with Bingo, BBQs, and other special events. Tasks vary. Commit to 2-3 hours each time.
Be a Teen Drop-In volunteer. Engage with and supervise teenagers during drop-in at the Similkameen Rec Centre, while seeing to comfort and safety. Friday evenings.
Lend a hand and be a SWP Support volunteer. Support our staff in organizing events for seasonal workers. Duties include set up, meal preparation, and distribution of the meals. Mostly Sunday evenings.
Become a volunteer Bottle Run Driver. Use your own vehicle to pick up pallets of empties from local establishments and bring them to the J&C Bottle Depot in Penticton. Communicate with the establishment and arrange a pick up time. Return the deposit receipt to the LSCSS office.
We need a Starfish Shopping volunteer. Shop for weekly food items based on a shopping list provided to you and deliver the items to the Ambrosia Building. Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Become a Starfish Packing volunteer. Pack food items into backpacks based on a packing list provided to you. Thursday evenings.
Be a Starfish Delivery volunteer. Pick up the full Starfish Packs from the Ambrosia Building and deliver them to the Cawston Primary and Similkameen Elementary Secondary schools. Friday mornings.
Become one of our Tech Savvy volunteers and assist and teach clients in using their electronic devices. 1-2 hours each time.
Become a Volunteer Driver and provide transportation for local seniors to local shopping or doctor’s appointments, in town or as far as Kelowna with your own vehicle. Receive a donation to cover fuel costs.
