Mountain View Manor

412 12th Avenue, Keremeos, BC

Mountain View Manor, at 412 – 12th Avenue in Keremeos, provides 26 units of supportive housing for seniors and disabled individuals. Mountain View Manor is operated by LSCSS as a Seniors’ Supportive Housing program, which provides specially modified rental homes, in selected subsidized housing developments, primarily to low-income seniors and people with disabilities who need some assistance in order to continue to live independently.

The program focuses on converting and upgrading existing housing to enhance accessibility and improve safety systems. It also introduces support services such as 24-hour response, light housekeeping, meals, and social and recreational activities.

The Seniors’ Supportive Housing program is designed to complement programs for seniors and individuals with disabilities and is situated on the housing continuum between transitional and assisted living, and independent social housing.

Building accessibility and safety modifications at Mountain View Manor include:

  • Low-threshold showers instead of bathtubs

  • Grab bars in showers and for toilets

  • Appropriate handrails in hallways

  • Enhanced lighting for exits/entrances and corridors

  • Fire sprinklers and in-suite smoke detectors

  • Swing-free door closers

The support services package provides a basic level of assistance to allow seniors to age in place. Support services at the development will be managed and administered by the Lower Similkameen Community Services Society and include:

  • A daily meal

  • Weekly light housekeeping

  • A once-per-week laundry service for bedding and linens

  • 24-hour response

  • Social and recreational opportunities
