LSCSS is honoured to steward scholarship funds established through the generosity and vision of local donors. These scholarships recognize and support students whose education, leadership, and future careers have the potential to strengthen the Similkameen Valley and rural communities. Currently, LSCSS administers the following scholarships:
The Linda Edwards Agricultural Fund (LEAF) Scholarship supports graduating students pursuing post-secondary education in sustainable agriculture, environmental sciences, land and food systems, natural resource management, or related fields. Established in memory of Linda Edwards, a respected scientist, mentor, and advocate for sustainable agriculture. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate leadership, community involvement, and a commitment to environmental stewardship and the future of agriculture in the Similkameen Valley.
The Rural Initiatives Scholarship supports graduating students pursuing post-secondary education and training that contributes to the health, vitality, and long-term sustainability of rural communities. Eligible fields of study may include health care, veterinary medicine, STEM, business, economics, education, skilled trades, public service, and other professions that help rural communities thrive. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate community-minded values, leadership potential, and a desire to make a positive impact in rural areas.
Please note: Availability of the Rural Initiatives Scholarship may vary depending on donor support and available funding.
Applications for LSCSS-administered scholarships are accepted directly by LSCSS. The application period is aligned with the School District 53 scholarship and bursary cycle and typically takes place each spring.
Application forms, eligibility requirements, and current deadlines will be posted when the annual intake opens.
The scholarships and funding opportunities administered by LSCSS are made possible through the generosity of donors and community partners. We are grateful for those who choose to invest in local students and contribute to the long-term strength and vitality of rural communities.
