Family Support

The Family Support Program is a flexible program designed to meet the needs of individual clients. The Family Support Coordinator works in collaboration with community professionals such as Social Services, Mental Health, and Addictions services, focusing on the strengths of each individual or family.

Our goal is to provide support and services to facilitate healthy, strong and connected families, by helping them develop adequate skills and abilities to cope with daily living.

Program Mandate

First, to provide support and services to facilitate healthy, strong and connected families. Priority is given to families experiencing Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) involvement.

Second, to keep families together by helping them develop adequate skills and abilities to cope with daily living.

We Can Assist With:

  • Developing and implementing a family wellness plan as well as the goals to achieve it
  • Problem solving to overcome challenges along the way
  • Providing families and individuals with emotional support on their healing journey
  • Checking in to support you in working towards your goals
  • Attending case conferences and MCFD meetings as a support and/or advocate
  • Providing information on how to deal with government systems
  • Facilitating family mediation or support meetings
  • Providing parents with support and educational programs that are culturally sensitive
  • Providing goal-oriented and focused appointments
  • Developing self-advocacy skills
  • Information and resources regarding available housing
  • Providing information regarding budgeting, shopping, household, and time management
  • Developing new parenting tools to cope with parenting challenges
  • Providing information on available community resources that may be of assistance
  • Transportation to and from appointments


Do I Need a Referral?

No! If you feel that you need support to improve your family life.

Do You Think a Child is in Danger?

If you have a concern in regards to a child who you suspect is at risk for child abuse and/or neglect? It is your obligation, by law, to inform the authorities. It is a confidential call and you may be saving a child.
