Community Action Plan for Children

Hours & Activities August thru December 2009

Please note changes from summer (beat the heat) to regular fall schedule hours.

Tumble Bumble Tuesdays: 9 to 10:30 am, at the Family Centre. Begins Sept. 22 at Cawston School gym from 8:45-9:45 am.
Tumble Bumble Thursdays: 3:30-4:30 pm – Cawston School gym beginning Sept. 24.
Prenatal Nutrition & Support: Tuesdays 10:30-12 pm at the Family Centre Please contact Anda Brockhoff to register.
Mom & Baby Yoga: 10-11 am, Wednesdays. Must pre-register.
Laugh & Learn: Thursdays 9-10:30 am, at the Family Centre. Sept. 24 goes back to regular fall schedule of 10-11:30am.
Family Drop-In: 10:30-12:00 pm (fall: 11:30 to 1 pm) Thursdays at the Family Centre.

Services Offered:

Pre-Natal Support & Nutrition
Pre/ Peri Natal nutrition, planning, preparation, support & parenting resources are available.

Prenatal vitamins, infant vitamin D drops, and weekly food certificates are available free to pregnant women and women with infants up to 6 months.

Mom & Baby Yoga
Free yoga sessions for pregnant women and women with infants up to 6 months. Moms include their baby in their work-out! Childminding is provided at no cost for older children. Must pre-register for each 6 week session.

Laugh & Learn
All parents/caregivers and their children (0 – 6 years old) are welcome! Have fun learning sports, games, music, early literacy, arts & crafts.

Family Drop In
Drop by the Family Centre for lunch (at no cost) and a chance to chat with other parents while kids ages 0-6 years play, Weekly topics and regular guests. First week of each month is always the “Kids Clothing Swap”!

Tumble Bumble
Tumble Bumble is a free gym program for families with children ages 0-6 years of age. It offers play opprtunities such as climbing, cycling, sliding, bouncing, balancing, hockey and basketball! The program encourages gross motor development and physical activity. Parents receive support, education, resources, referrals and an opportunity to meet other parents.

Parental participation is mandatory. Parents must supervise their child and must also help with setting up equipment, putting away equipment, cleaning equipment, etc.

Parents in our program have worked together to fund-raise and apply for grants. So far they have acquired over $5,000. in equipment designed specifically for infants, toddlers and preschoolers!
