Children Who Witness Abuse Program
Children’s Support Group
• to let children know they are not alone
• to provide a safe environment to talk about and express feelings
• to teach problem solving and anger management skills
The purpose of the program is
- to help children learn healthy and safe ways to express anger
- to help children and youth develop positive communication skills
- to encourage the expression of feelings through talk, play and creative activity.
Individual Counselling for Children

- an understanding that they are not at fault
Children Who Witness Abuse Program
Counselling Services in Keremeos and Area
In Keremeos the Children Who Witness Violence Program has a qualified CWWA Counsellor available 9 hours per week.
The counselor is employed by Lower Similkameen Community Services Society with funding from The Ministry of Community Services, Stopping the Violence Branch
In practically every case, regard for the child and for the family in matters of parental consent and privacy is important and is required.

The effects of Family Conflict on children may include:
- aggression – attitude that violence is OK
- anxiety - distracted by fear or worry; poor concentration
- depression – shrinking from activity, few happy times, no excitement in being and doing
